Vita et Mortem

This is a piece I did for my Art exam. Of course, I can see a few things to change and to perfect here and there (isn't that how it normally is, though?). However I must say, I'm quite proud of this. Typically, quite a lot of detail went into this, I just can't help myself when it comes to detailed work, I suppose, that's just my style to spend endless amounts of time with my black gel pen.

This is a diptych, first part is called "Vita" (life in latin) and the second is "Mortem" (death). I won't go into detail as to why I chose this theme, I'll only say that it's my favourite paradox. Life and death, complete opposites, yet one can't exist without the other, in order to create infinite and somewhat magical cycle of existence.
I decided to entwine some mythological symbolism, elements of nature and mystique here. I also spent some time reading about paganism - the old religion of Baltic peoples; some elements were borrowed and included in the works.   

Well, I suppose I'll just stop here before I start retelling my 2000 word description. As always, let the art speak for itself.
